You will be asked to upload a statement of goals, a current resume and copies of your academic transcripts and enter recommender details within the application form.
  2. Submit your application.
  3. Pay the $60 application fee.

Once submitted with payment, the admissions team reviews your application. They may request additional materials if required. You will receive an email notification once the application is complete.

Supporting Materials

For timely processing, we encourage you to prepare the following materials prior to submitting your application.

Prerequisites

Graduate candidates must have a bachelor’s degree and should have a minimum overall 3.0 GPA.

Coursework
Due to the mathematical nature of many actuarial science courses and their fast pace, the admissions review includes particular attention to your quantitative background.

This background must include multivariable calculus and probability (both discrete and continuous).

Résumé

A current résumé or CV detailing your professional experience, regardless of employment status, is required.

Transcripts

Temple University requires transcripts from each academic institution from which you earned credit for coursework. Copies of transcripts may be used during the admissions process; however, Temple University requires officials of any admitted student.

Additional documentation may be required for non-US academic institutions, such as marksheet and diploma. For such institutions, please review these guidelines from Temple University’s Graduate School.

Statement of Goals

One 500-word essay that addresses the following questions. Essays will be evaluated for content, clarity and professionalism.

English Language Exam (as needed)

A test score of academic English, such as the TOEFL, IELTS, PTE Academic or Duolingo test, is required if you have not earned a bachelor’s or graduate (master’s or doctoral) degree from a U.S. institution. Test scores must be reported by the testing service to Temple University within two years of the test date.

Waiver Eligibility

Note that if you earned your undergraduate or graduate degree from a country in which English is a commonly used language, this requirement may be waived. The admissions department automatically reviews for waiver eligibility at application submission with review of your academic history.

Interview (invite only)

Once an application is considered complete with the necessary documents, candidates will be invited to a virtual interview.
