Careers, Internships & Opportunities

College of Science and Technology undergraduates can pursue professional careers across a wide variety of fields. You can also choose to further your education with graduate master’s or doctoral degrees. These degree programs prepare you to graduate with the skills and experience necessary to succeed in a competitive job market or pursue graduate research.

Research Internships

Our internships give you the opportunity to gain real-world professional and research experience to further your academic experience and help you form your path after graduation. Students have interned at Philadelphia-area organizations and performed research on campus or at other institutions. These experiences can enhance your prospects for future employment and graduate school.

Careers

Physics graduates pursue careers in research, teaching and industry. Some of the most active industries for physicists include

  • computer and software engineering,
  • electronics and telecommunications, and
  • laser and optical physics.

Graduates also find opportunities for positions in health-related fields, including

  • diagnostic imaging,
  • nuclear medicine and
  • pharmaceuticals.

TUteach Internships and Programs

TUteach students can take advantage of fieldwork and internship options in the area of STEM education both on Temple’s campus and in the local community. Programs for in-service teachers include advanced workshops, STEM instruction with a focus on technology, continuing professional education and more. 

The Philadelphia Regional Noyce Partnership seeks to increase the number of talented STEM majors who become K–12 mathematics and science teachers. The organization provides academic programs and mentoring opportunities as well as scholarships and stipends.

Teachers Materials Camp is a weeklong, hands-on lab experience designed to show educators how to use applied engineering techniques in their classrooms. Teachers generate ideas to make core math and science principles more compelling and digestible for their middle and high school students.
