Clinical Trials Management Graduate Certificate

Understand how pharmaceutical clinical trials are designed, implemented and regulated with the Graduate Certificate in Clinical Trial Management in Temple’s School of Pharmacy. This 15 credit-hour graduate certificate trains pharmaceutical and healthcare professionals on all aspects of clinical trial research for new drugs, including clinical protocols, data audits, and patient treatment and safety. Offered part time through the School of Pharmacy’s Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance (RAQA) graduate program, the coursework focuses on professional development, giving you the opportunity to advance your career while continuing to work full time.

You’ll form a deeper knowledge of the bioethics of clinical research, protection of human research subjects, and roles of key personnel in clinical trials. The coursework emphasizes

  • the design and development of protocols;
  • Institutional Review Board responsibilities;
  • study management; and
  • volunteer informed consent.

The Clinical Trial Management Graduate Certificate is offered as both a pre- or post-master’s certificate. Students who earn the pre-master’s certificate have the option to apply some of their credits toward the Master of Science in in Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance. Applicants with master’s or doctoral degrees from other colleges and universities may need special permission from the School of Pharmacy to pursue this Graduate Certificate.

Classes & Curriculum

All Clinical Trial Management Graduate Certificate coursework takes place in person at Temple’s Fort Washington campus, just 20 miles from the university’s Main Campus.

You’ll have four years to complete five required courses in the pre-master’s certificate program. Some of the required courses include  

  • Bioethics for Pharmaceutical Professionals,
  • Clinical Trial Management,
  • Drug Development and
  • Good Clinical Practices.

If you pursue the certificate after earning the MS in RAQA, you’ll take four additional courses beyond the MS. These may include

  • Bioethics for Pharmaceutical Professionals,
  • Clinical Trial Management or
  • Good Clinical Practices.

Tuition rates are set annually by the university and are affected by multiple factors, including program degree level (undergraduate or graduate), course load (full- or part-time), in-state or out-of-state residency and more.

These tuition costs apply to the 2017–2018 academic year.

Pennsylvania resident: $1,072.00 per credit
Out-of-state: $1,358.00 per credit

Career Night
Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance hosts an annual career night for students to meet with representatives from at least a dozen actively hiring companies. The evening features presentations on topics for breaking into the industry and gaining employment, such as interviewing tips and resume writing.

Students are also encouraged to speak with Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance faculty about their professional goals and ambitions.

Delivery Method

The Master of Science in Global Clinical and Pharmacovigilance, Master of Science Non-Thesis in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Master of Science in Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance, and most certificates can be completed in-person at Temple’s Fort Washington location or online. The Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance graduate program offers more than 60 elective courses online.

Online courses in the RAQA program are offered in real time. You’ll participate in classes each week at a specific time, watching live lectures given by your instructor through interactive platforms. This format enables you to interact with other professionals across the country and world.
