Temple University’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program has implemented a new admissions pathway. All students must begin in the one-year Pre-Nursing program. There is no direct admission to the Nursing Major for high school students or transfer students from other institutions.

All prospective nursing students must apply to and complete the one-year Pre-Nursing program. Upon successful completion of all pre-nursing track requirements, students must then apply to the BSN program. Admission to the BSN program is competitive and not guaranteed upon completion of Pre-Nursing.
High school seniors and recent graduates only. We are accepting applications from first-year applicants who are currently completing high school or who have recently graduated.
The Nursing program no longer accepts the following applicants.
Transfer students from other colleges or universities
Intra-university transfers from other Temple University programs
Students who were not admitted to the Pre-Nursing program
The only pathway to the BSN degree is through admission to and successful completion of the Pre-Nursing program.
Application deadline: All applications are due Feb. 1 for Pre-Nursing admission.
Year 1: Pre-Nursing program (prerequisite courses and foundational nursing preparation)
Years 2–4: Traditional BSN program (upon successful completion of pre-nursing requirements and acceptance to the BSN program)
Pre-Nursing students must reapply to the BSN program.
Completion of the Pre-Nursing program does not guarantee admission to the BSN program. All Pre-Nursing students must submit a separate application to the BSN program at the end of their Pre-Nursing year. Admission to the BSN program is competitive and based on academic performance in Pre-Nursing coursework and other admission criteria.
This four-year pathway ensures all nursing students have a strong foundation before beginning advanced nursing coursework and clinical experiences.

Admission to the Pre-Nursing program is competitive. A minimum high school GPA of 3.0 is required for first-year applicants. A 3.0 GPA does not guarantee admission.

Note: Applicants should be aware before both applying to and entering the BSN program that the Board of Nursing may refuse to license a person who has been found guilty of, or pleaded guilty to, felony charges. The Board of Nursing application for licensure asks, “Have you been convicted of a misdemeanor, a felony, a felonious act, an illegal act associated with alcohol, or an illegal act associated with substance abuse(s)?”
Deceit in the submission of criminal background checks and child abuse clearance forms is cause for dismissal.
