Admissions

How to Apply

To apply, submit Temple University’s application along with the $60 online application fee. Standardized tests (GRE or MAT) are not required.

Supporting Materials

  • Transcripts: Submit official undergraduate and graduate transcripts from all accredited institutions you have attended and/or from which you earned credit.
  • Goals Statement: In 500–1,000 words, state your career goals and how you believe this degree will help you achieve them. Discuss the relevant experience you have obtained so far.
  • Recommendations: Submit two letters of recommendation.
  • Résumé: A current professional résumé is required.
  • Standardized Test Scores: Test scores, such as the GMAT or GRE, are optional.

Additional Materials

Live Audition

Applicants will rehearse and conduct the Wind Symphony, a 65-member ensemble, for approximately 20 minutes in varied repertory, selected by the faculty.

Prescreening Recording

Applicants must submit a prescreening video to Acceptd—face and torso facing the camera—of 15 to 20 minutes of rehearsal and five to 10 minutes of performance.

Written Analysis

Applicants must upload to Acceptd a written score analysis of one of the following selections.

  • "Chester Overture for Band" by Schumann
  • "Lincolnshire Posy" by Grainger
  • "Theme and Variations, Opus 43" by Schoenberg
