Master of Health Administration

Enhance your career in the healthcare industry with a Master of Health Administration (MHA) from Temple University’s Fox School of Business. Catering to the needs of professionals with at least three years of work experience, the MHA is a 30-credit graduate degree program designed to help current healthcare professionals excel and become leaders in the industry.

Housed in the Department of Risk, Actuarial Science and Legal Studies, the Fox MHA is supported by our expertise in business education and enriched by our deep connections to the health sector. Students in the program gain the specialized knowledge and leadership expertise to meet the growing demand for healthcare management professionals. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, there is a projected 28% job growth for medical and health services managers over the next eight years. 

Through the Master of Health Administration program’s combination of coursework focused on the intersections of healthcare and business with experiential learning  that includes real-world projects, speakers, cases and practicum experiences, students learn to

  • apply financial analysis and modeling to facilitate diagnosis and decision-making;
  • build translatable leadership and consulting skills for different areas of healthcare; 
  • identify and evaluate opportunities in the current business environment; and
  • manage business operations effectively in global, regional and organizational cultures.

A solid business foundation is laid through courses in accounting, data visualization, risk management and statistics. Health sector-focused courses cover healthcare leadership and strategy; financial management of healthcare organizations; health systems organization and development; and healthcare risks, patient safety and quality.

Classes & Curriculum

The Health Administration MHA is designed to meet the needs of busy working professionals, with flexible class times and locations. This part-time graduate degree program can be completed in either a hybrid or fully online format with courses offered online, on Main Campus and on Temple’s Center City campus. Students have up to five years to complete their MHA.

Examples of core courses for the MHA program include the following.

  • Advanced Health Economics and Finance

In addition to the required courses, students may take electives in areas such as analytics, human resources and project management—to support learning based on individual and professional interest.

In keeping with Temple’s commitment to access and affordability, this Master of Health Administration offers a competitive level of tuition with multiple opportunities for financial support.

Tuition rates are set annually by the university and are affected by multiple factors, including program degree level (undergraduate or graduate), course load (full- or part-time), in-state or out-of-state residency, and more. These tuition costs apply to the 2023–2024 academic year.

Pennsylvania resident: $1,165.00 per credit
Out-of-state: $1,165.00 per credit
