Fieldwork and Internships

The Temple MPH fieldwork experience helps you apply the theories and techniques you have learned to real-world scenarios in health services or public health organizational settings and prepares you to launch your career.

MPH students complete two semester-long fieldwork courses and have access to placements at more than 175 community partners in Philadelphia and the surrounding counties. These partners include government institutions, healthcare systems, nonprofit or community organizations, and public health agencies.

MPH faculty and staff will help you identify a placement site that matches your professional goals and interests. During your placement, you will develop strong relationships at your placement site through hands-on work and guidance from your fieldwork supervisor.

During your fieldwork experience, you will use data and empirical evidence to identify a public health problem, and then leverage public health models to develop and implement a feasible solution to that problem. At the end of fieldwork experiences, students gain fully integrated professional experience by presenting their results to community stakeholders.
