Usage of the Erny Outdoor Court is available for all valid Temple University students, faculty, staff, and alumni with valid recreation access. The Erny Outdoor Courts are accessible during the IBC hours of operation and will close during inclement weather and the winter. Erny outdoor courts include two (2) basketball hoops and three (3) pickleball courts that are perfect for playing around or pick-up games. Basketballs and pickleball equipment can be checked out at the front desk of the IBC Student Recreation Center.
Outdoor Court Sport Schedule
- Activity play is given priority on the following days:
- Pickleball: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday
- Basketball: Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday

Recreation scheduled programming maintain priority booking of courts. Other activities deemed safe by Campus Recreation are allowed. Any other special use requests must be pre-approved by Campus Recreation full-time staff.
IBC Student Recreation Center Pickleball Reservation Policies
Patrons may reserve pickleball courts at the IBC Student Recreation Center. Reservations may be made up to 48 hours in advance of play. An individual may only reserve one (1) court per reservation time slot.
Methods for reserving pickleball courts are as follows:
- In-person Reservation- Patrons may sign up for a one-hour reservation at the front desk.
- Phone Reservation (during business hours)- Patrons may call 215-204-2200 to reserve a court for one hour.
Patrons must check in with the front desk staff prior to using the court. Reservations will ONLY be held for 15-minutes after the reservation start time. All reserved courts that are not occupied 15-minutes after the reservation time will be made available for walk-in use and the patron who made the reservation will forfeit the court.
Erny Outdoor Court Policies
- Use of Campus Recreation facilities and programs is voluntary. Patrons assume all risk associated with participation.
- The following actions are cause for immediate dismissal from the facility and may result in temporary or permanent loss of privileges:
- Disorderly conduct
- Inappropriate behavior
- Abuse of facility or equipment
- Abuse of staff members
- Disregard for Campus Recreation policies
- Violation of university policies or procedures including, but not limited to, the Student Conduct Code
- Personal items that are not in use must be stored in a locker. Campus Recreation is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
- Movement of the pickleball nets must be managed by Campus Recreation Staff.
- Bicycles, rollerblades, skateboards, and electronic scooters are prohibited.
- Erny Outdoor Court is a dedicated recreation space - weather permitting. Any formal activity or program must go through our reservation process and have an approved permit.
- Campus Recreation Special Events and Intramurals have priority over Informal Recreation.
- Unauthorized use of camera/video/audio recording devices is prohibited. Authorization must be in writing and may only be provided by Campus Recreation full-time staff.
- All accidents/injuries or incidents are to be reported to Campus Recreation staff immediately.
- Staff have the right to prohibit any fitness equipment from going outdoors.
- Proper footwear is required at all times. Proper footwear is defined as footwear that has a rubber, non-marking sole and covers the entire heel and top of the foot.
- All drinks must be in a sealed, non-glass container. All other food and drink are prohibited in the court area. Tobacco products and chewing gum are also strictly prohibited.
- Shirt/top must be worn at all times.
- Personal music playing devices must be used with headphones at all times.
