Biography
Over the past few years, through research, collaborations, and accruement of
equipment and materials, I have designed, streamlined, and implemented
exercises for Biotechnology Laboratory II of the Professional Science Master’s
Program in Biotechnology. I maintain and run equipment, prepare reagents,
perform microbial inoculations, and set up lab bench stations.
I designed the laboratory components for General Microbiology (BIOL3317) and
Clinical Microbiology (BIOL2001). Relevant lab experiments coincide with lecture
topics. Many lab exercises are based on modern technologies and techniques. I
am the lab coordinator and teach most of the sections. In addition, over the last
year, I have kept microbial stocks and performed all of the inoculations for the
labs.
I have incorporated the use of computer-based technology for various courses.
In the past, I was responsible for setting up and maintaining entire courses on
Blackboard (Bb). I have currently adapted Clinical Microbiology lab material to
the new Canvas platform. I have streamlined the layout for students to readily
obtain course announcements and grades as well as modules in which pdf,
power points, excel files, videos, etc. are chronologically arranged on a weekly
basis. I have also incorporated virtual exercises which complement actual lab
activities. The online learning activities afford the students to learn background,
technique simulations, and applications.
