For many people, once the winter months are in full swing, it’s hard to find a good reason to leave the house. Few people want to bear the cold, even if it’s just to go grocery shopping. However, leaving your house is great for your mental health! You’ll find that living in a beautiful, cultural city like Philadelphia, there are plenty of things to do outside the confines of your home.
The ice skating rink at Dilworth Park is open into late February! “Visitors can ice skate around the Rothman Orthopedics Ice Rink, wander through seasonal plants and greenery in the Wintergarden, and warm up with tasty food and seasonal drinks in the cozy Rothman Orthopedics Cabin all month long” (Visit Philly). Similarly, the Blue Cross RiverRink Winterfest is in full swing until the end of March! This Winterfest includes ice skating, seasonal food and drinks, an arcade, fun and games, and more!
Looking for some fun indoors? From January 12th-24th, Philadelphia’s famous restaurant week makes a return! During restaurant week (which is actually two weeks long) guests can enjoy a three-course lunch that goes for $20 per person, or a three-course dinner that costs just $35 a person at many of Philadelphia’s top restaurants! If you’re one who enjoys dinner and a show, during select nights of January, visit the Academy of Music for the production “The Band’s Visit”. While you’re at it, head over to the Kimmel Center and the Merriam Theater to take a look at all the exciting productions they have for their winter season.
