Supporting Materials
For timely processing, we encourage you to prepare the following materials prior to submitting your application.
- Résumé: A current professional résumé is required.
- Transcripts: Temple University requires transcripts from each academic institution from which you earned credit for coursework. Copies of transcripts may be used during the admissions process; however, Temple University requires officials of any admitted student. Additional documentation may be required for non-US academic institutions, such as marksheet and diploma. For such institutions, please review these guidelines from Temple University’s Graduate School.
- Letters of Recommendation: One letter of recommendation is required. Professional references from an immediate supervisor, current or past, are preferred. Academic references are acceptable. Within the application, enter your reference’s contact information. References are then invited to upload their letters of recommendation. We encourage you to submit your application while waiting for recommendations to be completed.
- Essays: The first essay should address the applicant’s goals and motivations for pursuing the PhD degree, as well as detail his or her general areas of research interest. The second essay should describe the applicant’s plans to balance the time commitment required of the program (about 15 hours per week) with their work schedule and other demands.
- Standardized Test Scores: The GMAT is required. Official scores must be reported from a GMAT test taken within the last five years. Student scores must be in the 90th percentile or above on the GMAT. Applicants who earned their baccalaureate degree from an institution where the language of instruction was other than English, with the exception of those who subsequently earned a master’s degree at a U.S. institution, must report scores for a standardized test of English that meet these minimums.
