Tuition & Fees

In keeping with Temple’s commitment to access and affordability, this Master of Music offers a competitive level of tuition with multiple opportunities for financial support.

Tuition rates are set annually by the university and are affected by multiple factors, including program degree level (undergraduate or graduate), course load (full- or part-time), in-state or out-of-state residency, and more. These tuition costs apply to the 2025–2026 academic year.

Pennsylvania resident: $1,282.00 per credit
Out-of-state: $1,711.00 per credit

How to Apply

To apply, submit Temple University’s application along with the $60 online application fee. Standardized tests (GRE or MAT) are not required.

Supporting Materials

  • Transcripts: Submit official undergraduate and graduate transcripts from all accredited institutions you have attended and/or from which you earned credit.
  • Goals Statement: In 500–1,000 words, state your career goals and how you believe this degree will help you achieve them. Discuss the relevant experience you have obtained so far.
  • Recommendations: Submit two letters of recommendation.
  • Résumé: A current professional résumé is required.
  • Standardized Test Scores: Test scores, such as the GMAT or GRE, are optional.

Additional Requirements

Prospective students are expected to hold an undergraduate music degree or have completed coursework equivalent to the 124 to 135 credit hours to obtain a Bachelor of Music Degree from Temple University.

Audition Information

Once your application is submitted, contact the Boyer College of Music and Dance at to schedule your audition. Include your name, program of study and two preferred audition dates. Audition requirements vary across programs. Learn more about the audition requirements for your instrument or discipline.

If you live more than 150 miles from Temple's Main Campus, you may submit a recorded audition.

International Applicants

International applicants must send their TOEFL score. The minimum required TOEFL scores are 75 iBT or 537 PBT.
