How to Apply

To apply, submit an application along with a fee of $60 to the College of Education.

After submitting the application, you will receive instructions on how to submit the additional application materials listed below through your online MyTU account. If you prefer, you may also mail these materials to

You will receive your nine-digit Temple University identification number (TUid) via email once you submit your application for admission. Be sure to include your name and TUid on all documents that you mail to Temple. View a complete set of application instructions for graduate study in the College of Education

Supporting Materials

  1. Transcripts: Submit official undergraduate and graduate transcripts from all accredited institutions you have attended and/or from which you earned credit. Official transcripts can be emailed to or sent to the Office of Enrollment Management address listed above.
  2. Prerequisite Courses: The Pennsylvania Department of Education requires that students complete prerequisite coursework (see below) before being considered for admission to this program.
  3. Recommendations: Submit two letters of reference that provide insight into your academic competence. References from college or university faculty members are recommended. You may request recommendations through your MyTU account or send them using the paper Reference Report for Graduate Study (PDF) to the above mailing address.
  4. Statement of Goals: Write a 500- to 1,000-word statement of purpose outlining your interest in seeking a master's degree with a specific focus on the career to which you aspire; your interests; and your academic and job-related experiences that are relevant to the program.
  5. Résumé: A current professional résumé is required.

Prerequisite Courses

You will need to have taken prerequisite coursework in your concentration area before you are eligible for admission. A prerequisite evaluation is conducted when your application and all official transcripts have been received. 

1. At least two courses (six credit hours) should be taken in each of the following areas.

  • Math (cannot be basic or remedial courses below 1000 level)
  • English (three credit hours of writing/composition and three credit hours of literature)

2. At least one course (three credit hours) should be taken in each of the following areas.

  • Science
  • History (American and world history recommended)
  • Art or Music​

Additional Requirements for International Students

International applicants should also submit the following materials.

  • Spring: Nov. 1
  • Fall: March 1
