Admissions

Prerequisites

Applicants should have an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Science, Mathematics or Science. Your transcript must specifically include a considerable amount of coursework in computer and information science.

In addition, you will need to be accepted by a PhD graduate faculty member in at least one open track. To find an advisor, contact faculty members whose research interests are similar to your own. See a list of Computer and Information Science faculty and their research specialties.

Recommendations

Submit two letters of recommendation from faculty and professionals.

Statement of Goals

Your statement should be about 500 to 1,000 words in length. Include your specific interest in Temple’s program as well as your research and future career goals and your previous academic and research achievements.

Résumé

Submit a current version of your résumé.

Additional Requirements for International Students

For applicants whose native language is not English, the TOEFL, IELTS or PTE Academic Exam scores are required. The minimum scores for the TOEFL and IELTS are set by the Graduate School and are strictly enforced in the admissions process. Minimum scores are

  • TOEFL: 79 and
  • IELTS: 6.5.

International applicants who have either completed an undergraduate or graduate program in the U.S. or received a degree from an institution where the instruction was conducted in English will be eligible to apply for a TOEFL or IELTS waiver once the Graduate School has received and approved all transcripts.
