How to Apply

To apply, submit an application along with a fee of $60 to the College of Education and Human Development.

After submitting the application, you will receive instructions on how to submit the additional application materials listed below through your online MyTU account. If you prefer, you may also mail these materials to

You will receive your nine-digit Temple University identification number (TUid) via email once you submit your application for admission. Be sure to include your name and TUid on all documents that you mail to Temple. View a complete set of application instructions for graduate study in the College of Education and Human Development.

Supporting Materials 

The following are requirements to be considered for the Counseling Psychology program.

  1. Transcripts: Submit official undergraduate and graduate transcripts for all accredited institutions you have attended and/or from which you earned credit. Official transcripts can be emailed to educate@temple.edu or sent to the Office of Enrollment Management address listed above.
  2. Statement of Goals: In 500 to 1,000 words, describe your interest in seeking a Counseling Psychology MEd, focusing on the career to which you aspire, such as school counselor or agency counselor; your interests; and your relevant academic and professional experience. Explicitly indicate to which track, agency or school you are applying in this statement.
  3. Recommendations: Submit two letters of reference that provide insight into your academic competence. References from college or university faculty members are recommended. You may request recommendations through your MyTU account or send them using the paper Reference Report for Graduate Study (PDF) to the above mailing address.
  4. Résumé: A current professional résumé is required.
  5. Interview: An interview with the faculty admissions committee may be required after your application is complete.
