Master of Education Admission Requirements Bachelor's degree, transcripts of all college credits (including Temple University), scores from the general Graduate Record Examination (GRE) and the GRE subject test in psychology, three letters of recommendation, an interview, and essay are required.
Degree Requirements Students must complete a minimum of 30 credits and either pass a written comprehensive examination (if their grade point average is below 3.5) or complete an independent project; or students can elect to write and defend an acceptable thesis.

Degree Requirements Students must complete a minimum of 90 credits beyond the bachelor's degree, fulfill a residency requirement, complete a two-semester internship, pass written qualifying and preliminary examinations, and after submitting an acceptable dissertation, pass an oral final examination.
Course Descriptions -School Psychology 670. Infant and Preschool Assessment. (3 s.h.) Provides school psychology students with theoretical and practical knowledge of assessment of children ages birth to six.
671. Diagnostic and Remedial Functions in School Psychology I. (3 s.h.) Prerequisite: permission of instructor. Intensive overview and training with diagnostic instruments of cognitive abilities. Practice with specific tests in the above area. Discussion of theories of cognitive functioning and intelligence testing.
672. Personality and Psychotherapy. (3 s.h.) Includes major theories of personality and psychotherapy, computer simulation, and applications to projective testing in the schools.
673. Diagnostic and Remedial Functions in School Psychology II. (3 s.h.) Discussion of the integration of data from case histories, interviews and tests in making differential diagnosis. Comprehensive study of skills in interviewing and report writing. Evaluation of perceptual motor skills, achievement, and brief personality assessment as well as an overview of the major diagnostic categories in the schools. Major emphasis on conceptualizing and writing recommendations for educational remediation.
674. Diagnostic and Remedial Functions in School Psychology III. (3 s.h.) Prerequisite: Sch. Psy. 671, 672, 673 or permission of instructor. Intensive training with diagnostic instruments of personality. Discussion of educational planning and remedial techniques in relation to personality and behavioral dynamics of children. Emphasis also on theoretical constructs in understanding learning and behavioral difficulties in children.
675. Advanced Psychoeducational Assessment. (3 s.h.) Prerequisite: Sch. Psy. 671, 674 or permission of instructor. Comprehensive child study with emphasis on personality assessment. Practice with a variety of procedures for studying personality organization of children. Emphasis on the use of projective procedures, especially the Rorschach.
676. Introduction to Behavior Analysis in the Schools. (3 s.h.) Introduction to the functional analysis of behavior of children in the school setting. Includes behavior theory, assessment, interaction, and evaluation. A behavior-change program is conducted.
677. Behavior Modification and Consultation II. (3 s.h.) Prerequisites: Sch. Psy. 676 and concurrent registration in Sch. Psy. 782, or permission of instructor. Extensive school experience consulting with teachers regarding behavior analysis, instructional consultation, and mental health consultation, focuses on the process variables which facilitate effective teacher consultation.
770. Seminar in School Psychology: Role and Function of the School Psychologist. (3 s.h.) Analysis of role and functions of school psychologists. Study of relevant research dealing with varied roles the school psychologist can play within the school system. Consideration of ethical practices in school psychology. Required of all certification students.
772. Seminar in School Psychology Analytic Study of Teaching. (3 s.h.) In-depth consideration of teacher efficacy and observational techniques in education.
773. Topical Seminar in School Psychology. (1-6 s.h.) Special topics of interest to the school psychologist discussed. Topics may include therapeutic problems, school discipline problems, parenting and remediation strategies. Different topics each semester.
774. Seminar in Residency Projects. (3 s.h.) For residency students involving research, discussion, and projects related to professional developments in school psychology and social policy issues. Mandatory for doctoral students for two semesters.
775. Ethical and Legal Problems in Pupil Personnel Service. (3 s.h.) Ethical and legal issues in the administration of individual tests, establishment of counseling relationships, handling of psychological records, and consultative relationships with school personnel, testifying in court and educational hearings. Licensing procedures discussed.
777. Psychotherapeutic Strategies. (3 s.h.) Prerequisite: Sch. Psy. 770, 771, or permission of instructor. A study of the application of psychotherapeutic techniques to the school setting. Emphasis is on group techniques.
778. Case Conference Seminar. (3-12 s.h.) Case studies by the student in the Psychoeducational Clinic (taken concurrently) are reviewed in depth. Assessment, interviews, diagnosis and remedial strategies are covered.
779-780. Psychoeducational Clinic. (3 s.h.) A practicum course providing supervised training in psychoeducational assessment and counseling of children with learning problems.
781. Psychological Assessment of Impaired Children. (3 s.h.) Prerequisites: Sch. Psy. 779 or 780 or permission of instructor. Simultaneous registration in Sch. Psy. 782 (3 s.h.) required. Lecture and practice with special tests and rating scales of intelligence, perception, personality, and development of the blind, deaf, retarded, and/or orthopedically handicapped.
782. Public School Practicum. (3-6 s.h.) Supervised experience in a school or related setting in activities central to the role of the school psychologist.
876. Organization and Administration of School Psychological Services. (3 s.h.) Designed to help school psychologists plan effective psychological services for the school. Consideration of theoretical and practical issues in organizational development. Focus on the application of psychological theory to a broad spectrum of school issues.
878-879. Internship in School Psychology. (1-12 s.h.) Prerequisite: permission of instructor. Supervised internship as a full-time school psychologist in an approved school system.
880. Field Experience in Supervision in School Psychology. (3-6 s.h.) A practicum course providing advanced students with experience in supervising students in clinic and internship. Enrollees must be certified and obtain approval of the department.
989. Independent Study in School Psychology. (1-6 s.h.) Intended to meet the needs of students in school psychology who desire to carry on an individual investigation. Required for all master's students who wish to complete a project for the Ed.M. degree.
999. Doctoral Dissertation. (3-9 s.h.) Registration limited to candidates for the doctorate who have successfully completed the preliminary examination and the minimum number of semester hours required for the degree. Continuous registration during the fall and spring terms is required until the dissertation has been completed and accepted by the Graduate School.
