GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIPS
Assistantships constitute the major portion of financial support available to graduate students. Most assistantships are awarded directly by departments in the form of research or teaching assistantships. Each requires about 20 hours per week of the student's time, the former in research activities, the latter in teaching-related activities. Teaching and research assistantships carry full tuition remission and a stipend starting at $11,000 per year. Some departments offer considerably larger stipends. Some assistantships are dispensed by administrative offices of the University (these are generally called "administrative assistantships") and require 20 hours of administrative support services per week. Administrative assistantships carry a similar stipend and full tuition remission. For a list of available administrative assistantships, click here. Please note not all administrative positions are available every year.
