For students from Philadelphia public and parochial elementary and secondary schools*

The Community Music Scholars Program (CMSP) is an initiative of the Music Preparatory Division of the Boyer College of Music and Dance at Temple University. CMSP provides a comprehensive program of jazz and classical music instruction for school-aged Philadelphia children who have limited financial means. The program offers:

  • individual lessons in all standard orchestral instruments (including saxophone)
  • three levels of music theory class
  • jazz and string ensembles
  • chamber music
