Students must take foundation courses in Human Behavior (6 credits), Social Policy(6 credits), Research and Program Evaluation (6 credits), Practice(6 credits)and Field (6 credits including Community Encounter. Students at the advanced level take Practice (12 credits), Field (6 credits), Electives (6 credits), and Options in Human Behavior Theory (3 credits) and Social Policy (3 credits). A Master's Project is optional and takes the place of the Social Policy Option.
Internship:
TrueAll students spend the equivalent of three days per week in placement in a social agency. Field placement occurs concurrently with social work practice courses. There are two year long field placement experiences, one that focuses on developing proficiency in generalist practice and a second that focuses on multiple roles, multi-dimensional assessment, and multi-level interventions. Field Education Specialists meet with new and continuing students to explore possible field sites based on student learning needs and preferences. Part-time students employed in social service settings may have their placement arranged at their place of employment if the agency meets the school's requirements.
