Therapeutic Recreation
The Master's program in Therapeutic Recreation is designed
for those who want to advance their knowledge and understanding of therapeutic recreation
as part of health care services. The curriculum teaches from a conceptual model of
rehabilitation, health promotion and disease prevention. Students have an
opportunity to understand and develop skill in the use of activity interventions and the
use of leisure and counseling as they contribute to health care delivery in various
settings and with a range of populations including pediatrics, mental health, physical
rehabilitation and diverse older adult services.
The program is 33 graduate credits and may be completed in
three semesters, however individuals without a BS in Therapeutic Recreation may be
required to take some additional leveling courses to meet requirements for national
certification. Students may attend full or part time. Applications are
accepted at any time.
