Sport and Recreation Administration
The Master of Education in Sport and Recreation
Administration prepares students for careers in athletic administration, sport promotion
and marketing, arena and stadium management, and recreation or leisure services
management. The program includes a strong core of industry-specific courses
involving administration, legal issues, marketing and research.
The Program in Sport and Recreation Administration requires
either 30 semester-hours (thesis); 33 semester-hours (project); 36 semester-hours
(comprehensive exam); or 39 semester-hours (practicum). The program includes
electives within the School, along with requiring outside electives from the Fox School of
Business and Management. All students complete an internship. Students
attending full-time generally complete the degree in one calendar year or three semesters,
and students attending part-time generally complete the degree in two calendar
years. The program is offered on the Main Campus only.
The M.Ed. degree in Sport and Recreation Administration is
approved by the North American Society for Sport Management.
