Social Work
The School of Social Administration offers the Master of
Social Work (M.S.W.) degree. There are two concentrations within this degree
program. A concentration in Social Service Delivery is designed to prepare
individuals for advanced generalist practice with individuals, families, groups,
organizations and communities. The concentration in Administration and Social
Planning is designed for students interested in policy and program development and for
those wishing to prepare for management responsibilities.
The Master of Social Work Program consists of 60 hours of
course work and field practice ordinarily taken over a period of two academic years.
An abbreviated format is available for students who have earned the Bachelor of
Social Work degree and who may be given advanced standing in the program. Other
formats are also available that permit part-time matriculation extending over three or
four years. This program is currently offered on Main Campus and Harrisburg.
The School of Social Administration is accredited by the
Council on Social Work Education. The MSW degree is accepted as a requisite for
licensing in Pennsylvania and many other states.
