Reliability and Failure Prevention

The extension of service life and the prevention or control of failure are the primary challenge of design.  Practicing engineers must understand the phenomena behind reliability and failure of materials before designing a product.   This requires a thorough understanding of all the potential modes of failure and their sensitivities.  Probabilistic reliability analysis is the key in this process as are the performance and cost.

The Certificate Program requires the successful completion of three graduate level courses of 9 semester hours.  Credits earned in certificate programs may be applied towards the completion of a Master's degree in the College of Engineering.

In order to make the Certificate programs available to practicing engineers, classes are scheduled in the evening at the Main Campus.
