Physical Therapy
The Department of Physical Therapy offers the Doctor of
Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree for licensed physical therapists who plan to become researchers
and teachers. The degree prepares people for the multi-faceted role of a faculty
member by emphasizing a clinical content area, pedagogy, and research skills.
The degree includes 66 credit hours. All courses other
than dissertation can be completed in three years, although the program is designed to
allow people to maintain their clinical practice. Preliminary examinations specific
to the student's clinical practice, teaching and research interests, and a dissertation
are also required. Courses are offered in a variety of formats, including
evenings, weekends, intensives and on-line. Most courses are offered on Temple's
Health Sciences campus.
