Tyler School of Art offers the Master of Fine Arts degree in
Photography. The M.F.A. program prepares graduates for careers as professional
artists, craftpersons, designers, and educators. The Master of Fine Arts program is
intended for a student whose work has achieved strong definition and who seeks continued
growth and education. The primary objective of the program is to cultivate a blend
of technical, conceptual, and critical skills so that the student can enter the field on a
professional level. The photography area offers a variety of specialized workshops
focusing on temporal, cultural and personal issues. In addition to traditional black
and white color photography, students work with experimental and digital imaging,
non-silver photography, large format photography, handmade cameras, and a Heidelberg
press.
The Master of Fine Arts is a two-year, 60 credit-hour
program. Students are required to attend the program full-time. This program
is offered at the Tyler campus.
Tyler School of Art is an accredited member of the National
Association of Schools of Art and Design, National Architectural Accrediting Board, and
the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.
