Pharmacology
The Department of Pharmacology offers a Ph.D. degree.
The Ph.D. program is designed to prepare students for research positions in academia or in
industry. The department participates in the Temple University Neuroscience Program
and offers a Ph.D. in Pharmacology with a concentration in neuroscience.
The Ph.D. program consists of 40 hours of course work
ordinarily taken over a period of two academic years, followed by research in the
laboratory of an advisor, culminating in writing and defending a dissertation.
Full-time studies are the norm. Part-time study is only possible for students in the
Ph.D. program for industrial pharmacologists, however they must complete two consecutive
semesters of full-time study. The research component typically takes a further three
or four years. Most courses are offered during the day at Temple University's Health
Sciences campus.
