The Esther Boyer College of Music offers the Master of Music
and Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Performance. The Master of Music degree in
Performance is offered in the following instruments: trumpet, French horn, trombone, tuba,
Classical Guitar, Percussion, harp, violin, viola, cello. bass, flute, oboe, clarinet, and
bassoon. The Doctor of Musical Arts in Performance is offered in the following
instruments: trumpet, French horn, trombone, tuba, Percussion, harp, violin, viola,
cello, bass, flute, oboe, clarinet, and bassoon.
The Master of Music in intended for the artist/student who,
having completed undergraduate study, shows particular promise as a professional
performer. The emphasis of the program is preparation for professional auditions, as
well as free-lance performing and possibly entrance to a doctoral program in performance.
The Doctor of Musical Arts in Performance fosters growth and development of the
highest and most sophisticated expression of musical interpretation through performance
under the guidance of a very highly specialized faculty. Diverse areas of study are
included to assure the broadest possible cultivation and expansion of students' talents.
The Master of Music in Composition consists of 32 credits of
coursework and is normally completed within two years. The Doctor of Musical Arts degree
consists of 55 credits beyond the masters. The program is normally completed within four
to five years. Both programs are offered on the Main campus.
The Ester Boyer College of Music is accredited by the
National Association of Schools of Music.
