Painting
Tyler School of Art offers the Master of Fine Arts degree in
Painting. The M.F.A. program prepares graduates for careers as professional artists,
craftpersons, designers, and educators. The Master of Fine Arts program is intended
for a student whose work has achieved strong definition and who seeks continued growth and
education. Painting is understood as an art of significant intellectual and
emotional potency; the education of an artist is recognized as being complex and
unpredictable. Courses primarily take the form of individual critiques, with
regularly scheduled group meetings. Seminar work is scheduled to engage broad
contemporary issues.
The Master of Fine Arts is a two-year, 60 credit hour
program. Students are required to attend the program full-time. This
program is offered at the Tyler campus. The graduate student can elect to spend one of the
two years in the program at Temple's Rome campus, with faculty approval.
Tyler School of Art is an accredited member of the National
Association of Schools of Art and Design, National Architectural Accrediting Board, and
the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.
