The Esther Boyer College of Music offers the Master of Music
in Music Theory. The degree program provides a comprehensive collection of courses
designed to develop skills in the areas of music theory research, music analysis, and
musical composition. The master's program is organized into a series of small
seminars with emphases on developing strong analytical skills and on the application of
music theory in the academic anvironment. The program's primary purpose is to
prepare the student for further academic studies at the doctoral level.
The Master of Music in Music Theory consists of 31 credit
hours of course work ordinarily taken over a period of two years. All classes are
offered on the Main campus.
The Esther Boyer College of Music is accredited by the
National Association of Schools of Music.
