Liberal Arts
The College of Liberal Arts offers the Master of Liberal Arts
degree. This is a non-vocational, part-time continuing education degree whose
students seek academic experience in a wide range of liberal arts graduate courses in
seminars taught by selected Temple faculty or off-campus experts. Many MLA graduates
go on to Ph.D.'s in a variety of fields or enter law or other professional disciplines.
For some students, the MLA degree satisfies their desire to enrich their working
lives with advanced study in a wide variety of liberal arts fields.
The Master of Liberal Arts degree requires 30 hours of course
study, 12 of which must be in the Master of Liberal Arts program's own interdisciplinary
courses. In addition, a qualifying paper is required. Primarily offered at
Temple University's Center City and Main campuses, the Master of Liberal Arts degree
permits the student five years for completion of the program.
