Linguistics
The Department of Communication Sciences offers a Master of
Arts degree in Linguistics. The M.A. degree is appropriate for students who intend
to work in second language instruction, translation, and fieldwork, as well as to go on to
doctoral study and academic careers in linguistics.
The M.A. degree requires a minimum of 30 semester-hours of
course work. Most students complete the program in two years of full-time study,
however students enroll part-time for some or all of their degree programs. Most
courses are offered on the Main Campus, although some courses are occasionally offered at
the Center City Campus, and internship and practicum experiences may occur anywhere in the
Delaware Valley.
