Electrical Engineering
The College of Engineering offers the Master of Science in
Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering. Obtaining and securing employment in
today's high technology market demands that electrical and computer engineers possess a
broad base of technical knowledge and understanding, and requires that the engineer keeps
abreast of technical developments. The MSE program offers concentrations in digital
signal processing, image processing, speech processing, intelligent multimedia systems,
expert systems, neural networks, VLSI analysis, motion control, robust and optimal
control, computer communication networks, electric power systems and design of solid state
devices.
Both thesis and non-thesis options are available for the MSE
degree. Students electing the thesis option take 24 semester-hours of advanced
courses, and 6 semester-hours of thesis. Students electing the non-thesis option
must take at least 27 semester-hours of courses; the remaining 3 semester-hours are
devoted to researching and writing an extensive engineering paper. The program may
be completed either on a full-time or a part-time basis; full-time students usually
complete the degree in two years. All courses are given in the evening at the Fort
Washington campus of Temple University.
