Educational Psychology
The Department of Psychological Studies in Education offers a
Master of Education and Doctor of Philosophy degree in Educational Psychology. The
program examines the psychological aspects of learning as it occurs throughout life, and
integrates that knowledge with practice. Areas of study include: human development;
instructional psychology; learning and conceptual processes; measurement and test
development; research design; program evaluation; statistics; data processing;
instructional technology and special education.
The Master of Education requires a minimum 30 semester hours;
written comprehensive examination or master's thesis/project with oral defense. The
Doctor of Philosophy degree requires a minimum 90 semester hours, residency; research
apprenticeship; written preliminary examination; written major area examination;
dissertation and oral defense. For students interested in Special Education, the
doctoral program can accommodate you through specially selected coursework emphasizing the
areas traditionally addressed in Special Education programs. All courses are offered
at Temple University's Main Campus.
