The Esther Boyer College of Music offers the Master of Music
and Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Composition. The Master of Music degree in
composition encourages the composer of demonstrated accomplishment to develop a personal
voice through private study with at least two members of the Composition faculty.
The program also prepares students for various careers related to music, and for
further academic and musical training at the doctoral level. The Doctor of Musical
Arts in Composition prepares composers to teach at the university level, provides students
with the opportunity to create large-scale compositions, and to advance the student's
professional career. The program encourages students to develop complementary
musical skills as a performer, conductor, theorist, or software designer.
The Master of Music in Composition consists of 30 credits of
coursework and is normally completed within two years. The Doctor of Musical Arts degree
consists of 52 credits beyone the masters. The program is normally completed within four
to five yers. Both programs are offered on the Main campus.
The Ester Boyer College of Music is accredited by the
National Association of Schools of Music.
