Civil Engineering
The College of Engineering offers the Master of Science in
Engineering degree in Civil Engineering. The curriculum offers concentrations in
environmental engineering, structural engineering, transportation engineering and
construction management. Graduates in the MSE in Civil and Environmental engineering
will develop a broad understanding of new technologies for infrastructure and its
rehabilitation, and the global problem of pollution control and protection of
environmental resources. The program is designed to enhance a students prospects of
advancing in their profession or continuing their graduate studies at the doctoral level.
Both thesis and non-thesis options are available for the MSE
degree. Students in the thesis option take 24 semester-hours of courses and a write
a master's thesis, which constitutes 6 semester-hours. Students in the non-thesis
option take 27 semester hours of coursework and perform a research project, which
constitutes 3 semester-hours. Full-time students usually complete the degree in two
years. The program is available to both full-time and part-time students. All
courses are given in the evening and at the Main campus.
