The Doctor of Philosophy degree requires 30 hours of course
work beyond the Master's and completion of independent thesis research. The Ph.D.
program is designed to take four years of full-time study. The M.S. program requires
24 hours of course work and completion of independent thesis research. The programs
are currently offered at the Health Sciences Center Campus. Joint M.D./Ph.D. and
M.D./M.S. programs are open to students accepted both by the School of Medicine and the
Graduate School.
Members of the Fels Research Institute and the Specialized
Center for Thrombosis Research who hold academic appointments in the Department of
Biochemistry also participate in the graduate training program.
