Physiology
The School of Medicine offers the Master of Science and
Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Physiology. Graduate students can pursue a wide
variety of research interests in physiology from the molecular level to whole animals.
Graduate programs with emphasis on exercise physiology are provided in
collaboration with the research faculty of the Kinesiology Department.
Completion of the Masters degree requires 24 credit hours of
coursework in the Department. The doctorate requires that students complete courses
in molecular biology and biochemistry in addition to basic and advanced courses in
physiology. A written and oral examination must be passed and a dissertation must be
written and defended. Generally, five years are required to complete the program.
All courses are offered at Temple University's Health Sciences campus.
