Occupational Therapy
The Department of Occupational Therapy offers the Master of
Science degree in Occupational Therapy. Areas of concentration offered by the
department are Administration and Management, Developmental Issues in Childhood,
Education, Gerontology, Occupation and Function in Adulthood, and research. There
are two means of obtaining the Master of Science degree. The entry level track is
for the individual who has a bachelor's degree or higher in other than occupational
therapy and is seeking initial, professional education and certification as an
occupational therapist. The post professional track is for certified and licensed
occupational therapists who hold a bachelor's degree or higher in occupational therapy.
This track is aimed toward post-professional development of master clinicians,
beginning researchers, and academicians.
For the entry level program students must successfully
complete a total of 40 graduate credits including 12 semester-hours of full-time clinical
fieldwork. In the Post-Professional program, students must successfully complete 36
semester-hours of approved course work, including a research thesis. The entry level
track requires full-time study, while the Post-Professional program is geared to the
occupational therapist working full-time. Classes are offered at Temple's Health
Sciences Campus.
