Nursing
The Department of
Nursing in the College of Allied Health offers a Master of Science in Nursing.
There are currently four tracks within this degree program. The Adult Nurse
Practitioner track is designed to prepare advanced practice nurses to deliver primary care
for adults across the health care spectrum. The Psychiatric Mental Health advanced
practice nursing track is designed to prepare the graduate to provide direct and indirect
mental health services to diverse client populations. The Maternal Infant track
prepares the professional nurse to function as a clinical nurse specialist in maternal and
newborn nursing. The Nurse Anesthesia track prepares the full-time student to become
a professional nurse anesthetist.
The nurse practitioner
and clinical nurse specialist students can complete the M.S.N. in two years of full-time
study. However, part-time options are available. The nurse anesthesia program
requires 27 months of full-time study and clinical practice. All courses are offered
at Temple's Health Sciences Campus.
The Department of
Nursing is fully accredited by the National League of Nursing. All graduates are
eligible for national certification in their area of practice.
