Admission Requirements and Deadlines
Application Deadline:

Fall: June 15

Summer: March 15

Applications are processed as they are received throughout the year.

Letters of Reference:

Number Required: 2

From Whom: Letters of recommendation from work supervisors and/or past coworkers who have worked extensively with the applicant are preferred. College/university faculty members familiar with academic competence may also submit letters.

Coursework Required for Admission Consideration:

Although no specific courses are required for admission consideration, applicants to the Executive M.B.A. program are expected to have 7-10 years of experience, with 5-7 years of managerial experience.

Bachelor's Degree in Discipline/Related Discipline:

A bachelor's degree, not necessarily in a business discipline, is required.

Statement of Goals:

Applicants are expected to submit a Statement of Goals that describes future objectives in specific terms without use of generalizations. The Statement of Goals should address how the E.M.B.A. degree will assist the applicant in achieving her/his goals.

Standardized Test Scores:

The GMAT is required. GMAT scores should not be under 550. Applicants scoring less than 550 are encouraged to retake the exam to be considered for admission. Waivers may apply in very specific cases.

Minimum TOEFL score needed to be accepted: 89 iBT or 575 PBT. An official TOEFL score is required of all non-native speakers of English unless they have completed a college or graduate program in which the medium of instruction was English in one of the following countries: Australia, Canada, India, Ireland, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, United Kingdom, or United States. Test scores are valid for two years. The last possible test date is approximately one month prior to each application deadline. The TOEFL test date must be indicated on the application form. The code for reporting to Temple University Japan is 9698. Information and registration for the TOEFL test is available at http://www.ets.org/toefl/. An institutional TOEFL is also acceptable.

Scores from the IELTS academic test are also accepted. A minimum score of 7.0 is required.

Test Waivers:

The GMAT may be waived for applicants who hold a J.D., M.D., or other doctoral degree. It may also be waived based on level of work experience and undergraduate GPA.

Interview:

An interview is required of all applicants. When an application is complete, the program office contacts the applicant to set up the interview. Telephone interviews are available for those living far from Tokyo. This interview is designed to determine if a candidate meets the minimal requirements for admission.

Resume:

A resume is required.

Internship: No internship is required.

Language Examination: No language examination is required.

Culminating Events:

Capstone Course Sequence:

Students are required to successfully complete the capstone course sequence. The purpose of the capstone sequence is to ensure that M.B.A. candidates have mastered the skills necessary to conduct business analyses. The capstone sequence is graded in the normal manner by the instructor.

About the Program

The Fox School of Business and Management offers M.B.A. programs that help develop a solid understanding of business models created by the synergistic forces of globalization, entrepreneurship, and information technology. Our approach to graduate education helps develop practical expertise through case analyses, presentations, interaction with business practitioners, and team projects. The Fox School prepares students to step immediately into key management roles in highly specialized fields. The Fox School of Business and Management is the region's second largest business graduate school with more than 1,300 students studying in 16 areas of concentration, including the region's second oldest Executive M.B.A. program.

Time Limit for Degree Completion: 4 years

Campus Location:

Temple University Japan is located in the Minami Azabu and Mita districts in central Tokyo.

Full-Time/Part-Time Status:

Students are required to complete the degree program through classes offered in 5-week modules on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Interdisciplinary Study:

Students in the Executive M.B.A. program do not have an area of concentration. Instead, they receive the breadth and depth required to succeed as an executive.

Research is supported by the Fox School of Business and Management's Advanta Center for Financial Services Studies, the Center for e-Marketing, the Center for Healthcare Research and Management, the Ethics Resource Center, the Irwin L. Gross eBusiness Institute, the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute, the Institute of Global Management Studies, the Safeguard Scientifics Center for Economic Education, and the Small Business Development Center. Research interests of the Fox School faculty are also supported by numerous centers and institutes throughout Temple University.

All Fox School of Business and Management graduate business programs are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International (AACSB International), the association for management education.

Areas of Specialization:

The TUJ Executive M.B.A. program focuses on helping its students develop leadership and communication skills in a global business environment. Students often work in cross-cultural teams that promote these skills. In addition to offering a course in international business, the program emphasizes the international dimension of the specific disciplines it covers.

Job Placement:

Graduates of the Fox School of Business and Management obtain jobs in computer/information technology; consulting; consumer products and services; energy/utilities; financial services/banking; government; healthcare; industrial products and services; manufacturing; pharmaceuticals; telecommunications; and tourism/transportation.

Non-Matriculated Student Policy:

The Executive M.B.A. program is a cohort program, and courses may not be taken on a non-matriculated basis.

Financing Opportunities

As this degree program is for executives, applicants are expected to fund their own studies.
