Admission Requirements and Deadlines
Application Deadline:

Letters of Reference:
Number Required: 2
From Whom: Letters of recommendation should be obtained from college/university faculty members familiar with the applicant's academic competence and/or immediate work supervisor.
Coursework Required for Admission Consideration:
Details on appropriate background are available from the department upon request.
Bachelor's Degree in Discipline/Related Discipline:
A baccalaureate degree is required. Details on appropriate disciplines are available from the department.
Statement of Goals:
The Statement of Goals should be approximately 500-1,000 words and should include the following elements: your specific interest in Temple's program, your future career goals, and your academic achievements. http://www.fox.temple.edu/mbams/faq.html#sog
Standardized Test Scores:
The GRE is required. The GMAT can be accepted as a substitute. The verbal score should be in the 50th percentile or above and the quantitative score should be in the 65th percentile or above.
Minimum TOEFL score needed to be accepted: 580 paper-based, 237 computer-based, or 92 internet-based.
Resume:
A resume is required.
Transfer Credit:
A grade of "B" or better must have been earned in a peer M.A. program course in order for the credit to transfer. The maximum number of credits a student may transfer is 6.

ECON 8002: Macroeconomic Analysis
ECON 8003: Mathematics for Economists I
ECON 8005: Microeconomic Theory I

ECON 8009: Econometrics
Depending on academic background, one core course may be substituted by an elective course or an independent study. The specialization and elective courses should be chosen in consultation with the graduate advisor.
Internship: No internship is required.
Language Examination: No language examination is required.

About the Program
The M.A. in Economics prepares the student to understand contemporary economic theory and its application to problems arising in industry, business, and government. The program gives the student an opportunity to specialize in one of two areas: (a) general economics or (b) applied economics and financial markets.

Students are able to complete the degree program through classes offered after 4:30 p.m. Students are also able to complete the degree program on a part-time basis (8 credit hours or less per semester).

The Economics faculty are conducting research in the following areas: applied econometrics, development economics, industrial organization, international economics, and labor economics.
Job Placement:
The program is primarily dedicated to producing well-trained researchers and managers in the field of Economics. Many students go on to enter Ph.D. programs.
