Gina Calzaferri
Director, Assessment & Evaluation

Bio: Gina joined Temple IRA in 2013 and has held various positions within the office including Assistant Director and Manager.... Prior to Temple, Gina worked at the University of Pennsylvania's Graduate School of Education, where she also earned her doctorate in Higher Education Management.Gina is an active member and volunteer in various professional organizations including: Philadelphia Higher Education Assessment Leaders (PHEAL) and North East Association for Institutional Research (NEAIR), where she is the conference Sponsor Coordinator.

Within Temple IRA, Gina is responsible for providing leadership and management for a range of assessment and evaluation activities including institutional surveys, course evaluations, assessment of student learning, assessment of institutional effectiveness and placement assessment. She works closely with faculty, administrators and professional staff across the University to coordinate and sustain assessment planning at the undergraduate, graduate and professional levels; and oversees the development of assessment resources to sustain a culture of assessment. Gina oversees the University's policy and processes for periodic program review, including budget management, selection of reviewers and report management. Additionally, Gina provides oversight for the University's placement assessment program, exam processing, and the University Testing Center. Gina has expertise around issues pertaining to college access, assessment of student learning and institutional effectiveness, accreditation, qualitative methods, and survey design.

Bhavana Shubhangi Kaulwar
Research Analyst, Assessment & Evaluation

Bio: Bhavana Kaulwar joined Temple's Office of Institutional Research and Assessment in 2016 and has worked in institutional research for over 3 years.... Prior to working in this office, Bhavana worked as a Research Analyst at Washtenaw Community College in Michigan. Bhavana earned her B.Tech Degree in Computer Science from Amrita University and holds an M.S. in Computer Science from Eastern Michigan University. As a graduate student, Bhavana worked as a Data Analyst in the IR department and as a Web Developer in the College of Technology, both at Eastern Michigan University. Bhavana is also a member of the Association for Institutional Research(AIR) and North East Association for Institutional Research (NEAIR).

Within Temple IRA, Bhavana is responsible for analyzing and reporting university data, providing technical support, coordinating external reporting, as well as developing institutional dashboards to support strategic planning and assessment. Currently, Bhavana is developing a web portal to facilitate the program assessment reporting process and to evaluate student learning outcomes. Additionally, Bhavana aims to develop a mobile version of the Temple University Fact Book. Bhavana has expertise in working with multiple data systems and tools: Banner, MySQL, Tableau, SAS, Cognos, mobile app development, web development and data modeling. She also enjoys learning new tools for data management, analysis, and visualization.

Leanne Grundel
Manager, SFF Administration

Bio: Leanne joined Temple IRA in 2018 and has worked at Temple University since 2015 in various other roles including Transfer Articulation Agreement Coordinator... at the College of Education. Prior to working at Temple, Leanne worked as an Academic Advisor at Rowan College at Burlington County and as an English/Language Arts teacher. Leanne earned her bachelor's and master's degrees from Rutgers University and is currently pursuing a doctorate in Higher Education.

Within Temple IRA, Leanne is responsible for managing the administration of the electronic Student Feedback Forms (eSFF) and works with stakeholders at all levels throughout the university. Leanne maintains University SFF communication each semester with thousands of students and instructors across 17 schools and 8 campuses. Leanne produces the SFF Instructor Reports and disseminates data to all Schools and Colleges and university leaders. Leanne provides training and support to school and college liaisons on the SFF System to ensure smooth orchestration of SFF administration, and aims to enhance initiatives to bolster SFF response rates. Leanne has expertise in Microsoft Excel, Adobe Dreamweaver, Banner, Cognos and SPSS.

Chingun Anderson
Research Analyst II, Assessment & Evaluation

Bio: Chingun joined Temple's IRA office as a Research Analyst II in 2020. Prior to working at Temple, Chingun worked as a Research Analyst at ... the State University of New York Polytechnic Institute where he produced statistical models to predict enrollment and allocate financial aid. He also conducted interviews and focus groups with out-of-state students. He received a Ph.D. in Government from the University of Essex, United Kingdom and a M.S. in International Public Policy from University College London, United Kingdom.

With Temple IRA, Chingun is responsible for research and reporting on the placement assessment process, test optional admissions, and course and teaching evaluations. Chingun has expertise in research design and methodology, statistical modeling, data analysis, R and STATA. He is passionate about applying quantitative methods and data analysis to improve students’ experiences and outcomes.

Jancy Munguia
Research Analyst, Assessment & Evaluation

Bio: Jancy joined Temple's IRA team in September 2017. Prior to working at Temple, she worked at Bryn Mawr College as a research assistant ... for various research initiatives.

Within Temple IRA, Jancy is responsible for managing all phases of university survey administration, including item development, marketing and communication, analyzing survey data, and reporting of results. Jancy provides support for the Temple University Survey Coordinating Committee (TUSCC) and maintains records of university surveys, including a calendar of survey activity to avoid survey fatigue. Jancy also manages ad-hoc requests for survey information and provides support to university constituents on survey design, development, and administration.

Jancy has expertise in Excel, NVivo, and her favorite survey tool: Qualtrics. She earned her Bachelors of Arts in Mathematics and Psychology from Bryn Mawr College in 2014 and is planning to pursue a MEd Educational Psychology at Temple.

Exam Services

John Starr
Associate Director, Exam Services & Technical Operations

Bio: John has worked at Temple University for over 30 years. He joined Temple's IRA office in 1987 as an entry-level Statistical Associate... and has since held various other roles including Applications Programmer, Manager of Systems, Assistant Director and currently, Associate Director.

Prior to working at Temple, John was a part-time professional musician who later went back to college as an adult, where he prophetically worked in an institutional research office as a student worker. He later received a Master's degree in Educational Psychology while working at Temple.

Within IRA, John is responsible for overseeing the Exam Services unit which provides classroom exam processing and other data processing services to the University; standardized testing in IRA's two testing centers; and support of all facets of University Placement Assessments. John also oversees IRA's technical operations and maintains IRA's database server that supports IRA web applications. John is a self-taught applications developer who can program in several programming languages and on a number of platforms, and maintains many of Exam Services web and PC based data processing applications. He is also fluent in both Oracle and Microsoft Server SQL, SPSS and Banner Student ERP.

David Griffith
Manager, Exam Processing

Bio: David joined Temple's IRA office in 1985 and has worked in various other roles including; Graduate Assistant, GED Supervisor,... and Test Administrator. Prior to working at Temple, David was Principal of High Street Christian Academy, and Classroom Teacher. David holds membership in the National College Testing Association (NCTA).

Within Temple IRA, David is responsible for the Testing and Exam Services units. David has expertise in Psychometrics, Test Security, Banner, Cognos and SQL. David also assists in the inventory of computer equipment for IRA and the Student Collaboration Center. This includes joining hardware to TU domain as well as loading specific software as needed, and trouble-shooting as necessary. David is responsible for all IT related issues regarding the Test Centers both on Main and Ambler campuses.

Rachel Hample
Manager, Testing Services

Bio: Rachel Hample is responsible for managing University Placement Assessments and overseeing testing centers at Ambler and Main Campus.... Prior to this role, Rachel worked as Test Coordinator and Test Manager for IRA.

Since joining IRA, Rachel has developed and implemented a Test Center Business Plan and received national certification for both testing centers. Rachel is a leader in state and national organizations as Governing Board member of the National College Testing Association (NCTA) and state representative of the Pennsylvania Association of College Testing Administrators (PACTA). Rachel also collaborates on national initiatives such as NCTA Proctor Certification. In January 2016, the Provost recognized Rachel for outstanding work in Institutional Research and Assessment that improves the quality of Temple students’ experience and, in 2017, NCTA awarded Rachel a grant to implement a testing workshop on campus.

Rachel holds a Masters of Higher Education (2017) and Bachelors of Education (2011) from Temple University. She is pursuing doctoral work and her third degree from Temple's Higher Education program. Her research interests include test administration, testing policies, and placement testing.

Zhane Holman
Test Coordinator, Exam Services

Bio: Zhane Holman began working within Temple IRA in 2013 as an undergraduate student worker. During this time she proctored several national tests... such as the ACT, SAT, LSAT, and the GRE. After serving time as a proctor, she later assumed administration responsibilities and moved into the role of a Supervisor. Prior to working at Temple University, Zhane was an administrator at a confidential records facility where she received a certificate awarding her as a Certified Release of Information Specialist.

Zhane became a full-time IRA staff member in 2018 and is responsible for managing testing activities such as test administration and scheduling at Temple's main campus as well as the Ambler testing center. She also works very closely with the Disability and Resources and Services department in providing accommodated services to students.

Zhane holds a Bachelor's of Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing (2016) from Temple University.

Merima Babic
Senior Research Analyst, Data Analysis & Reporting

Bio: Merima has been a member of Temple's IRA office in the Data Analysis and Reporting unit since 2014. Prior to assuming this role, Merima served as a Researcher... to former Temple president David Adamany in the Office of the Chancellor. She was responsible for identifying key data sources, designing and maintaining a longitudinal database, and providing qualitative research in support of a publication. Merima earned her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees in Political Science from Temple University and spent time studying abroad at Temple Rome.

Within IRA, Merima is responsible for the publication of the University Fact Book, At a Glance, Common Data Set, and Student Profiles, as well as compliance reporting to various federal and state agencies including IPEDS. She is responsible for University Graduation & Retention reporting, updating and maintaining our official degree database, Fly in Four reporting, producing the Academic Quality Indicators and the Campus Reports, as well as various ad hoc requests. She also focuses on building dashboards using Excel and conducting workshops at professional conferences. Merima has technical expertise working with Banner INB, Cognos Reporting, SQL Developer, SPSS, and QGIS.

Meaghan Green
Research Analyst, Data Analysis & Reporting

Bio: Meaghan Green joined Temple's Office of Institutional Research and Assessment in 2016 and has worked at Temple University since 2010, previously as an... alumni relations officer in the Office of Institutional Advancement. Prior to coming to Temple, Meaghan worked at the Philadelphia Orchestra Association. Meaghan received her bachelor's degree in Strategic and Organizational Communications from Temple's Klein College of Media and Communication in 2006, and is currently enrolled in the Master of Education in Higher Education program (concentration in institutional effectiveness) in Temple's College of Education.

Within Temple's Office of Institutional Research and Assessment, Meaghan is responsible for analyzing the university's ranking performances, overseeing university level external surveys, as well as working with university leadership to complete the Middle States Commission on Higher Education's Annual Institutional Update. Additionally, Meaghan is a member of the university's Academic Affairs Implementation Group, University Partners Committee, and Chief Communicators Committee. Meaghan has expertise in the Classification of Instructional Programs codes, Canvas, and Banner.

Sasanka Kasinadhuni
Business Intelligence Analyst, Data Analysis & Reporting

Bio: Sasanka joined the Institutional Research and Assessment team as a Business Intelligence Analyst in 2018. Prior to working at Temple, he managed... talent acquisition, and other HR operations at various technology consulting firms. He received a Master's of Science degree in Business Analytics from Temple's Fox School of Business, with the Dean's certificate of excellence.

In IRA, Sasanka is responsible for building predictive models, and using the latest statistical learning techniques in analyzing and predicting various metrics to support the University's strategic initiatives. He also creates reports for ad hoc requests using COGNOS report studio and SQL. Sasanka is a SAS certified Advanced programmer and a Cloudera certified Hadoop developer, and is adept at using R/Python for analytics, Tableau/Power-BI for visualizations. He has also worked with multiple ERP tools like SAP, SuccessFactors, and Workday.
