Labor and Employee Relations

Labor and Employee Relations provides strategic human resources management and support to academic and administrative departments in the University. It ensures compliance with all University policies, rules of conduct, federal, state, and local employment laws. In addition, it negotiates and administers collective bargaining agreements on behalf of the University.
Labor and Employee Relations works closely with senior leaders, managers, and employees to ensure optimum service and functionality, which includes developing solutions that will help departments achieve its goals. It resolves employee/management disputes through investigations, employee coaching and counseling; provides guidance to supervisors and administrators concerning discipline;conducts grievance hearings; and participates in arbitrations and other administrative proceedings.
Labor and Employee Relations also assists with department reorganizations, coordinate requests for ADA Amendments Act accommodations, acts as a liaison between departments and Human Resources, manages unemployment compensation, presents the University’s position at unemployment compensation hearings, and conducts exit interviews.
