In accordance with the Affordable Care Act (ACA), part-time employees who are regularly scheduled for at least 30 hours per week, or who have averaged more than 30 hours per week over the applicable annual measurement period, are eligible to enroll in the Personal Choice High Deductible plan and CVS/Caremark prescription.

Personal Choice High Deductible Plan:

  • Fiscal year deductibles of $2,000 for individual coverage; $6,000 for employee plus 1 or family coverage, which will not be waived at Temple practices.
  • $30 office visit co-pay to in-network primary care physicians and $40 co-pay for in-network specialists.  Office visit co-pays are not subject to the deductible, this means that you will pay the above co-pay regardless of whether you have satisfied the deductible. The office visit co-pay will be waived at Temple practices.
  • Prescription drug co-pays are not subject to the deductible.  This means that you will continue to pay the co-pay amount for prescriptions whether you have satisfied the deductible or not.
  • After deductible is satisfied, the plan pays 90% for in-network services such as in-patient hospitalization, surgery, outpatient x-ray/radiology and maternity.
  • Employees pay 10% for the cost of generic drugs. 20% for the cost of preferred brand name drugs. 30% for the cost of non-preferred brand name drugs. There is a discount for drugs are obtained through mail order.  Employees may receive a 3 month supply for the cost of 2 months.

Voluntary Retirement Contributions

All part-time employees, regardless of scheduled hours, may elect to make voluntary 403(b) contributions on a pre-tax or Roth 403(b) after tax basis. Contributions may be invested at any of the funds offered by either TIAA-CREF or Fidelity Investments. Part-time employees may enroll effective the first of any month and contributions will be deducted from regular pay. For questions, e-mail
