Admission Requirements and Deadlines

Physical Therapy, DPT

Deadline
Fall: January 15

Application Type:
Applications received by October 15 will be reviewed for a decision by December 15. Applications received by January 15 will be reviewed for a decision by March 1. Other applications will be accepted and reviewed until the class is filled. Well-qualified college juniors may apply by April 15 of their junior year for an early decision about admission following completion of their bachelor’s degree. Applicants admitted under this program are asked to commit to Temple for their physical therapy education. All admission decisions are rolling, with applications being processed as they are received.

From whom:
Letters should be solicited from people who know you well and can judge your capability for success in a graduate program in physical therapy. This includes university faculty, physical therapy clinicians, employers, etc.

Statement of Goals:
The Statement of Goals should be no more than one typed page in length. It should include the following elements: an indication of your understanding of the practice of physical therapy; your future career goals; your achievements which justify admission.

Standardized Test Scores:
The GRE is required. Fiftieth percentile on at least two of the three tests (Verbal, Quantitative, Analytical).

Minimum TOEFL score or range of scores needed to be accepted:
575 on the paper-based test or 230 on the computer-based test. Applicants who score below 600 on the paper-based test or 250 on the computer-based test will be required to take and pass a remedial English course during their first semester at Temple University.

Interview:
Qualified applicants are invited for group interviews, which are conducted by faculty and area clinicians on scheduled dates. The interview also includes a tour of the Department facilities, opportunities to meet current students, and an information session with the Department Chair. Phone interviews are available when travel costs are prohibitive.
