Letters of reference Number Required:2From whom: Letters of recommendation should be obtained from individuals who can speak toward the applicant’s ability to undertake graduate-level work in music therapy, and/or comment on the applicant’s character as a potential graduate student.
Statement
of Goals:
The Statement of Goals should include your special interests within the discipline and expectations for the program.
Standardized
Test Scores:
Minimum TOEFL score or range of scores needed to be accepted: 600 on the paper-based or 250 on the computer-based examination.
Audition: Applicants must present a live or taped audition. When auditioning live, applicants must bring their own accompanists; if this is not feasible, a taped audition may be presented instead at the time of the visit/interview. If the applicant is unable to visit Temple, they may send a taped audition.
The live or taped audition must consist of: two pieces in different styles in the applicant's major performance medium (with accompanist when so indicated); and three standard or popular songs, sung and played by the applicant on piano or guitar. Interview:
Applicants may choose an on-site or telephone interview. The interview is scheduled after an application has been filed. (Please allow at least three weeks after submission). Students may select between two options: (1) Visit Temple on any of the dates specified in the cover letter, present a live or taped audition, and have an in-person interview with the music therapy faculty. (This option is required for all those applying for assistantships). To schedule a visit, select the most convenient date, and inform the Coordinator of Music Therapy in writing. (2) If the on-site interview is not feasible, a telephone interview is required for all students in the United States; a written questionnaire is required for students living in other countries. Transfer Credit
Students who wish to transfer credit should speak with their Program Coordinator and obtain a transfer of credit form available in the Main Office of the Boyer College of Music. Transfer credits must be approved by the Program Coordinatory and the Associate Dean.
