The M.A. in economics prepares the student to understand contemporary economic theory and its application to problems arising in industry, business, and government. The program gives the student an opportunity to specialize in one of two areas: (a) general economics or (b) applied economics.

For the period 1994-1998, The Fox School, as a whole, was ranked 62nd out of the top 100 Business Schools in the world in research, as per the Business School Research Rankings Report. For the overall period 1986 to 1998, The Fox School was ranked 71st out of the top 100 Business Schools in the same report.
Additonally, the Fox School of Business and Management has been ranked 14th by Computerworld for our technology programs.
The Fox School of Business and Management also holds a specialty ranking of 26th in the nation for its healthcare management programs.
The Fox School is currently working to submit materials to several media outlets responsible for the general ranking of business schools. The Fox School believes that our general MBA programs will be ranked in the top 50 business schools.

transitional economies, macro-economic theory, monetary economics, privatization and competitive government, anti-trust theory, history of economic thought, environmental economics, urban economics, the economics of small business, labor economics, and international economics.

The program is primarily dedicated to producing well-trained managers in the field of economics. Many students go on to enter Ph.D. programs.
