PROGRAM INFORMATION

Theater/Acting, MFA

The MFA program in Theater/Acting is based on the concept of a conservatory. The objective of the graduate acting program is to produce creative, skilled and knowledgeable professionals in the various disciplines of Theater and the related arts. The MFA candidate should be committed to developing as an artist and dedicated to mastering the crafts and techniques necessary to express himself clearly. A physical, emotional and intellectual strength is essential for the actor, as well as the willingness to use it by risking himself imaginatively.

Students are required to complete the degree program through classes offered before and after 4:30 p.m.

The Temple University Theater Department's MFA Program was rated 23rd for Graduate Theater Programs in 1997 by US News.

Acting, Movement, Speech, Voice, Dramatic Literature, Stage Combat, Singing, Scene work, Main-stage productions.

Job Placement:
The program is primarily focused on training our students for careers in the theater industry. many have worked in T.V., film, Off-Broadway, regional theater and Broadway.

Affiliation(s):
Temple theater students have the opportunity to intern with many of the numerous professional theaters in Philadelphia, including the Wilma, the Arden, and the Philadelphia Theater Company.

Students are able to take some course work with Film and Media Arts graduate students.
