Event Description - Qualifying paper.Event Philosophy - The qualifying paper, 4000-6000 words in length, should demonstrate the student's ability to write analytically on a topic of his/her choice; to read, absorb and evaluate scholarly thought and research; and to develop and establish his/her own perspective on the problem being examined.Event Process - The qualifying paper will be submitted for approval to at least two members of the MLA Advisory Committee or other graduate faculty chosen by the MLA Program Director. Either one of the two readers may request revisions. If one reader fails the paper, the MLA Director will designate a third reader. Any paper failed by two readers is unacceptable, and another paper must be submitted.
