Fall: March 1 Application Type: Auditions every three years through V/RTA. We visit all three sites in NYC, Chicago, and Irvine, CA. Three recommendations with application. After candidates have been interviewed, those accepted are notified by letter by April 15. A supplemental application is required. Statement
of Goals:
We are interested in students for whom the desire to act is so strong that it denies the power of any practical fears.
Our MFA candidates should be committed to developing as an artist and dedicated to mastering the crafts and techniques to express himself clearly. A physical, emotional, and intellectual strangth is necessary for the actor, as well as, the willingness to use it by risking himself imaginatively. The statement of purpose serves as an introdustion of the applicant. It is an opportunity for the applicant to set forth his or her relevant experience, values, and areas of intense interest. It is to be in the proper essay form but may be personal style, and need be no longer than 500 words.
Standardized
Test Scores:
Minimum TOEFL score or range of scores needed to be accepted: 575 on the paper-based test or 230 on the computer-based test. Applicants who score below 600 on the paper-based test or 250 on the computer-based test will be required to take and pass a remedial English course during their first semester at Temple University.
Audition: An applicant should be prepared to audition two 2-3 minute contrasting monologues of his or her choice.
Interview:
In addition to the audition, applicants are to bring with them a resume and head-shot.
